Mira Dancy (b. 1979 Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK) received her MFA from Columbia University in 2009 and her BA from Bard College in 2001. Dancy has had solo exhibitions nationally–Night Gallery in Los Angeles, CA and Chapter NY in New York, NY–and internationally–the YUZ Museum in Shanghai, China and Galerie Hussenot in Paris, France. Her work was featured in a solo booth with Night Gallery at Art Basel Hong Kong in 2016, as well as Frieze London in 2015. Dancy was also included in MoMA PS1’s group exhibition, Greater New York in 2015. Using female identity as a driving force in her work, Dancy’s paintings of nude women reflect a strong sense of independent energy, existing in their own vibrantly colored worlds. In addition to painting, Dancy creates neon light sculptures, projected images, installations and wall paintings. Dancy lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
